Endourological Procedures

Endourology involves minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat conditions affecting the urinary tract, such as kidney, ureter, and bladder stones. These procedures are performed using specialized instruments inserted through the urinary passage, eliminating the need for large incisions.

Types of Endourological Procedures:

• PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) – Surgical removal of large kidney stones through a small skin incision.

• URSL with Laser Lithotripsy – Breaking and removing ureteral stones using a laser device.

• RIRS (Flexible Ureteroscopy) – Using a flexible scope to treat stones and other conditions inside the kidney.

• TURP/TURBT – Transurethral resection procedures for treating prostate enlargement or bladder tumors.

Common Reasons for Endourological Surgery:

• Kidney or ureteral stones causing pain, infection, or obstruction

• Bladder tumors or abnormal growths

• Enlarged prostate causing urinary issues

• Narrowing of urinary passages affecting urine flow

• Performed under anesthesia with minimal blood loss

• Often done as a day-care or short-stay procedure
